The design and work for this entry and exterior renovation was performed while employed as Project Architect at Kilburn Architects.
This existing multi-family senior living community in Silverdale, WA was in need of exterior redesign for the entire facade and enhancement of entries. The main entry shown here provides for native natural landscaping and a water feature contained within the main entry drive through the porte-cochere. Trellis features were added flanking the entry to create a welcoming embrace to visitors. The landscape seating at the entry resides between the trellis piers and promotes a connection to the outdoors for residents and a pleasant place for socializing. The paving beneath the porte-cochere was modified from asphalt to colored and textured concrete to promote a more pedestrian friendly environment. The entry was de-cluttered. Flag poles and other extraneous items were moved and de-emphasized in order to create a welcoming feeling of home for the residents. Natural local landscaping was featured at the center circle.
